FAQ

LASIK Questions, Answered

What is LASIK eye surgery?

LASIK is a laser procedure that reshapes the cornea to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses for near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and astigmatism.

Is everyone eligible for LASIK?

Not automatically. Eligibility depends on factors such as stable eye power, corneal thickness and health, and general medical history, and is confirmed only after an in-person eye examination and diagnostic tests.

I’m over 40 — can I still explore LASIK-related options?

You are not automatically ruled out. Near-vision changes can become relevant after 40, so the team reviews your full vision profile — distance vision, near vision, and lifestyle needs — before discussing which option, if any, may suit you.

Does the online LASIK assessment diagnose my eligibility?

No. The online assessment is a pre-consultation lead assessment used to understand your vision needs and share your details with the hospital team. It is not a medical diagnosis. Final LASIK suitability is determined only after an in-person clinical evaluation by Dr. Kashish Gupta.

How long does the LASIK procedure take?

The laser part of the procedure typically takes about 15 minutes per eye, though total time in the surgical suite and recovery timelines vary by patient and by the LASIK technology used.

What LASIK technologies does the centre offer?

The Eye Department at Max Hospital, Bathinda offers multiple refractive technologies, including blade-free and custom wavefront-guided options. The right technology for you is decided after your diagnostic tests.
